Mark Teixeira gets to don the Yankee pinstripes, having just agreed to a 8 year $180 million contract, believed to have a no trade clause. He also gets to follow in the footsteps of the player he idolized growing up, Yankees first baseman Don Mattingly. Teixeira grew up in Severena Park Maryland between Baltimore and Annapolis. He followed the Yankees as a kid and continued to admire the commitment they had to winning, even when he was on the Rangers. He had said several years ago, that if he didn’t get a long term deal , the Yankees and Orioles would be two top destinations. No word as of yet as to what number he will wear, or if number 23 (witch is retired) is a possibility. His signing makes him one of the top four highest paid players in baseball, he only needs to look around the clubhouse to see the other three : A-Rod, Jeter, and Sabathia.

In another atempt to flex their fat wallet dominance, the New York Yankees today signed Mark Teixeira to an 8 year $180 million deal Tuesday. Teixeira will make an average of $22 1/2 million dollars per year. The Yankess beat out the Boston Red Sox who were believed to be the front runner to land Mark Teixeira. This coming after earlier in the off season the Yankees also landed free agent pitcher CC Sabathia to a 7 year $161 million dollar deal. Between the two new free agents, the Yankees have spent a whopping $341 milion dollars so far this off season. Most think this will eliminate the Yankees from going after former Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez, but with the new billion dollar stadium opening and their inability to make the playoffs last year, anything is possible.
The Yankees have more money that Wall Street. If they land Manny too, they quite possibly may have the greatest team ever assembled. I feel bad for their manager and GM because if they dont win in all this year, those two are for sure to get the axe! Well, heres to another 5 years of Yankees dominance.

Shaun Ellis was just trying to help clear some of the snow off the field, so other players wouldn’t trip on it. Look how much he’s able to clear with one throw, it looks like he threw Frosty The Snowman’s head at that front row. I blame it on the NFL for letting it snow…don’t they control everything on this Earth, including the weather??

Miles, Is my friend trophy wife material? Sarah
Sarah, I told Santa what I wanted for Christmas, and he responded with “Ho Ho Ho” I hope this girl is what he had in mind. If I found her under my Christmas tree, I would have to make her my trophy wife, and let her get a good look at my north pole.

The Rams need to sign this guy. Maybe he can help them stop someone in the 4th quarter. How do you let Shawn Hill light you up after he looked soo bad all game. If I were GM of the Rams, I’d dump their D and pickup the starters for USC, it would be a BIG upgrade!!

Nnamdi Asomugha the new Prime Time (at least on the field)
Last Updated on Tuesday, 23 December 2008 02:55 Written by admin Tuesday, 23 December 2008 02:48
The Raiders corner back Nnamdi Asomugha has a couple things in common with Deion “Prime Time” Sanders. They are both known for wearing 21, and NFL quarterbacks will not throw in there direction. Not since Sanders played have we seen any corner command that much respect. You can add Asomugha to the list, he is having one of the greatest seasons a corner back has had in NFL history. Through 15 games he has allowed eight completions for 133 yards and no touchdowns. This included going up against the likes of Randy Moss, Steve Smith and Andre Johnson. He held Smith to 1 reception for 9 yards, and shut out Johnson (who many are saying is the best wr in the NFL) for 3 quarters before leaving in the 4th with an injury. Johnson had 2 catches for 19 yards on the day. Asomugha is finally getting some recognition, it took long enough. The 6 year veteran was just announced a starting corner in the Pro Bowl. How many selections does that give him you ask ? this will be his first!! Weeks before the announcement rival Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan (keep in mind he hates the Raiders and former boss AL Davis) gave Asomugha the ultimate compliment : “He is the most underrated football player in the history of the game,” Shanahan said of Asomugha. “I can’t believe this guy hasn’t been to the Pro Bowl or people don’t talk about him all the time. He is off the charts and as good as it gets. He doesn’t get the attention for the way he plays consistently. He is the most underrated football player that I have ever seen in my coaching career.” High praise indeed.
He plays on the Raiders and he doesn’t have all the antics or the catchy nickname of a Sanders but the respect he gets from opposing offensive coordinators, QBs and receivers now, almost parallels Mr. Prime Time in his prime time. NFL fans will soon follow.
