The Clippers’ Ricky Davis may have gotten caught advertising an event at an adult club in Phoenix.

The Clippers are in Phoenix this evening to take on the Suns, but by the looks of things, they got into town last night.

A flyer for a “gentlemen’s club” was advertising an event that took place on New Year’s night, and it said that the host was none other than currently suspended member of the Clippers, Ricky Davis.

Of course, there a few things to keep in mind when we see something like this. First and foremost is the fact that just because the flyer says that Ricky Davis, Baron Davis, and Marcus Camby are hosting or are expected to be at an event, it doesn’t mean that they were actually there. Celebrities are often times paid a fee by a club to use their likeness to promote an event, and just as often the celebrities never show up.

It shouldn’t be our concern what players do in their spare time, but the fact that some choose to advertise their hobbies so brazenly should be — at the very least — something to think about. This isn’t an event at a simple dance club … it’s one that went down at a strip club. For guys that are making millions of dollars already, the risk of having your name and likeness associated with something like that would seem to outweigh the reward of the few thousand bucks that they’d be getting for the “appearance” fee.
