In a off season twist, after placing the franchise tag on Matt Cassel, the New England Patriots have traded their backup quarterback and LB Mike Vrabel to the Kansas City Cheifs for a second round pick.  When the Pats franchise taged Cassel it meant they were on the line to pay him $14.5 million to be a backup.  This trade clears up that cap space, and proves that the Tom Brady rumors about him facing setbacks in his rehab must be untrue.

Wow Cassel and Vrabel for a second round pick??  This trade is all about dumping salary.  Even the Pats must be affected by the economy!

Rihanna’s father Ronald Fenty has spoken exclusively from his home in Barbados about his daughter’s decision to get back with Chris Brown.

Rihanna and Brown are holed up together at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mansion on Star Island near Miami.

It comes just three weeks after Brown allegedly battered the singer the night before the Grammy Awards on Feb 8.

I skipped my annual NBA All-Star Weekend column because I was frantically trying to finish my book. At least that’s how I rationalized it. I need to finish this book. I have a deadline. I can’t afford to spend that writing time on anything else. But after reflecting for a few days, I came to a sobering conclusion: The book was a convenient excuse. I could have found time to pump out that column. I just didn’t want to hand it in.

The Suns might have air-mailed Shaq to Cleveland if the Cavs had been willing to take on his contract.

A man from President Obama’s hometown of Chicago has been arrested for allegedly sending Obama and his staff envelopes containing HIV-infected blood, in the hopes of killing or harming them.

It’s only the second time ever that HIV-infected blood has been sent with malicious intent through the U.S. mail system, a spokesman for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service said.

In the weeks leading up to Obama’s inauguration, Saad Hussein, an Ethiopian refugee in his late 20’s, sent an envelope addressed to “Barack Obama” to offices of the Illinois government in Springfield, Ill., according to court documents. The envelope contained a series of unusual items, including a letter with reddish stains and an admission ticket for Obama’s election-night celebration in Chicago’s Grant Park. Court documents said Hussein, who takes drugs to treat a mental illness, later told FBI agents he is “very sick with HIV” and cut his fingers with a razor so he could bleed on the letter.

The Washington Redskins acted quickly during the first day of free agency by reaching a seven- year $100 million deal with former Titan Albert Hanyesworth. The deal can fetch up to $115 million including incentives and $ 41 million in guarantees. At least six teams in the first hour of free-agency contacted  Haynesworth’s agent Chad Speck and offered at least $30 million in guaranteed money but it came down to two teams, the Tampa Bay Bucs and the Washington Redskins, with the Redskins prevailing. Haynesworth led the Titans with  8½ sacks last season. He also had 75 tackles, 22 quarterback pressures, 7  tackles for a loss and forced a team-high 4 fumbles. This deal makes Haynesworth the highest paid defensive lineman in NFL history .

We can’t even remember what made Jennifer Love Hewitt famous. Was it a fluke of the 90s? We seem to have some vague memory of her being hot or something.

On-set sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com that the Size 2 Princess demanded that execs on her barely-watched TV show, Ghost Whisperer, foot the bill for her $1500 Alice in Wonderland themed birthday tea party. And this is after CBS has prohibited any production-fronted parties in the current economic atmosphere. According to our source, the show had to perform some creative bookkeeping to keep the party under wraps from CBS bosses.

The guest list was extremely limited, and did not include the majority of the Ghost Whisperer crew! Those invited included Jennifer Love Desperate’s castmates, as well as some members of her TV glam team – hair, makeup, wardrobe.

Guests were also treated to catering from Marmalade Cafe at an expensive $19 a pop!

Most pathetic of all is that Size 2 called up the paparazzi herself to come shoot her party for a little publicity.

This reeks so hard of desperation that we think we need to spray a little Febreeze! It’s Dignity scented!
