Greg Oden is the Blazers new Sam Bowie

The Portland Trailblazers 7ft center Greg Oden, was the #1 pick in the 2007/2008 NBA draft. He was picked ahead of Oklahoma City Thunder Swing man and NCAA player of the year Kevin Durant.  While Durant went on to win rookie of the year last year, Oden missed the entire season because of a knee injury, thus making this year Oden’s rookie season. Durant is setting the league ablaze (lol) (how was he not an all star??) averaging  26.3 points a game to go along with 6.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists. Oden meanwhile has missed time with injuries and has struggled to average 9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks a game. There is a chance he will not place in the top 5 in rookie of the year voting. It doesn’t help that rumors of Oden being lazy and more interested in partying than playing exist. Here is a recent quote from Blazers head coach Nate McMillan about Odens injury status :
